National competitions
"League 1" and "League 2"
These championships are composed of 20 teams, the teams finishing in the first four places of the championships are qualified for the European competitions.
At the end of the season, the team finishing at the top of the classification is crowned champion of France.
In Ligue 2, the first three teams get their ticket to access Ligue 1.
Ligue's cup
The League Cup brings together only professional football clubs. This is a knockout competition, each round is a single match. The team that wins it gets a place in the third qualifying round of the Europa League.
French Cup
Created in 1917, the Coupe de France is an annual national knockout competition. It is organized by the French Football Federation (FFF). All amateur and professional clubs affiliated to the federation participate. So that makes thousands of amateur and professional clubs in competition!
European competitions
Champions League
The Champions League is the "Grail" in terms of European competitions. Created in 1955 and formerly known as the Champion Clubs' Cup. It is an annual competition organized by UEFA and bringing together the best clubs on the European continent. The winner of the UEFA Champions League is officially the European club champion.
Europa League
The Europa League also called C3 was created in 1971, it is organized by UEFA. Considered the second most prestigious of European cups after the Champions League. Since the 1997-1998 season, the final has been played in a single match, on neutral ground. The winner has the privilege of facing the winner of the Champions League as part of the UEFA Super Cup.
International competitions
Nations League
The UEFA Nations League is a European competition between different nations. Established in 2018, it is organized every year (odd years). It concerns the 55 UEFA countries, they are divided into four levels (League A, B, C and D), according to their UEFA coefficient, then, at each of these levels, into four groups of 3 or 4 selections. The first of each of these groups will qualify for the final round of four.
World Cup
The World Cup is the championship for national teams. Decided in 1928 by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), it was open to all teams from federations recognized by FIFA. It takes place every 4 years and opposes 32 countries from all over the world. Brazil is the nation that has won the most World Cups in history with 5 titles.
Continental competitions
The oldest continental competition between nations is the Copa America, which pits South American teams against each other. The European Championship brings together the best European steps. Each continent has its event: the African Cup of Nations (CAN), the Copa Sudamericana...
They take place like the World Cup every 4 years and are exclusive to the countries of each continent.
22nd edition of the World Cup in Qatar
The World Cup in Qatar will take place from November 21 to December 18, 2022 in eight different venues. They will host the 64 meetings of the competition. The final will take place at the Lusail Iconic Stadium, the largest stadium of this 2022 World Cup.
Six of them were created from scratch while two others were renovated. One of them will even be dismantled at the end of the competition, as for some they will be transformed into shopping centers.

1.5 million spectators are expected for this occasion. To transport fans between stadiums, hotels and restaurants, three metro lines have been created.
